Raleigh’s seen some things in his life, sort of comes with the territory in a job where dealing with super humans has become common place.
But he’s never seen anything quite like Dr. Geiszler’s lab.
“Dr. Geiszler? Anyone here?”
If you were to enter Newton’s lab, it would seem like a complete mess without any kind of systematic structure.
Of course, however they would be fooled. The trick to his organisation was to make to seem like there was actually no organisation, so if anyone broke into his lab, they’ll have a hard time finding what it was they would be looking for.
Newt raised his head from the alien corpse his hands were currently in, at the sound of footsteps and a gruff voice.
“Oh, it’s you. What tech did you break this time, Mr. Becket? And please, only my mother calls me doctor.”
“My stuff isn’t like your stuff,” Tony shot back, but he did calm down some. “Arc reactor tech isn’t something you’d know how to handle.” He dragged the man over to the side where a few pieces of tech were hooked up. “Anyway, this is what you’re here for. What do you make of it? I can tell it’s organic based, but alien biology is not really my thing.”
“Give me two hours, and I’ll have it down.” Newt frowned, muttering loud enough for Tony to hear. Getting six doctorates wasn’t for nothing after all. His irritation dispelled when Tony dragged him to the reason he was called here. Lighting up instantly at the organic object, Newt moved to put on his gloves before lightly touching it. It had a soft skin that turned rock solid on contact. That was interesting… “Hmmm… definitely not Kree, or Asgardian.” He hadn’t seen anything like it before. The object pulsed and oozed out something pink. “I might need to perform an MRI.”
“Boston… ” Thor echoed quietly, his mind preoccupied with a million thoughts. He did not even know why he was here in Midgard — he was helping restore the nine realms. But now that he was here he just knew that he was sent to help his friends. They seemed to be always in danger of sorts and the Asgardian prince often found it vaguely amusing. But it confused him why he was in Boston if all his friends were located in New York — or some other country that was far from civilization. Turning to the midgardian who seemed to know who he was, his eyebrows furrowed. “Lab — basement… you need to aid me in my quest to go to New York."
You need to aid me. Oh, wow, Thor needed his help. This was a big deal. Of course the whole issue with the SHIELD and Hydra business was a bid deal. Thor was probably going over there to source out his fellow Avengers, and probably help with the whole issue. Cut off one head and lightning would sear the roots. Newt moved his hands about animatedly, trying to figure out how he could get an Asgardian to New York. "Okay it’s about a three hour drive, but… can’t you just fly there?” He thought suddenly. Didn’t Thor had his hammer?
Narrowed eyes surveyed the room quickly, finding exits and taking note of every detail. Thor was not accustomed to being caught by surprises. He noticed that most of the surroundings were either boxed, packed or both. After hearing the other male’s response, Thor turned to face him. “And where is your lab located, midgardian?”
“Erm… My basement, in like Boston… Thor.” He replied the Thunderer. Newt didn’t want to take up any more of Thor’s time, seeing as the God seemed to be in a hurry, maybe. Well, there had been a civil war of sorts. He figured that Thor probably wanted to check on his companions, his fellow Avengers and got him instead. Newt had a billion questions to ask the Prince of Asgard. What was it like? What was Asgardian culture like? And their biology? How different was it from that of a human’s? (Of course there was the super strength, speed, durability and intelligence.)
“You could have blown up half of New York!” Not really, maybe just the Tower, but he had to pound it into this guy not to touch his stuff. “Why did I agree you show you around again? It’s slipping my mind in the middle of worrying you might blow something up.”
"Hey. I know how most of these things work okay.” He even had his safety googles on. Of course, he knew perfectly how he’d felt if someone messed with his equipment. Newt apologised anyway, he didn’t want to piss Tony off when he had just got here.
”My location. One minute I was in New York and now… where am I?”
He wasn’t freaking out or anything. This was THOR that had randomly appeared in his lab. After SHIELD had combusted into nothing, Newt had packed his stuff and went to his underground lab, and to find Thor, Asgardian God of Thunder of all people here? Well, Newt tried to play it cool, “Uh, my lab… yeah…”
“I…” Shit, he had no excuse. No one could blame him anyway, he was in the Tony Stark’s lab. Tony Stark invited him to his lab, after all. Newt was trying so hard not to explode from the excitement, so touching something seemed like a good way to expel some of that energy.
